Welcome to Laboratory Medicine.
The Department of Laboratory Medicine provides a diagnostic pathology service for all clinical activity in the Hospital, the community of General Practitioners supported by the Hospital, and other linked healthcare institutions. The Laboratory is committed to providing a high quality, efficient and comprehensive service to its users.
It is our aim to advance the scientific basis of diagnostic laboratory medicine and pathology, develop the diagnostic and investigative skills of our medical and scientific staff and students, and to provide excellence in the teaching of pathology and laboratory medicine to medical laboratory science students and to medical students in Trinity College Dublin.
Our Goal
The goal of the Department is to provide the highest international standard in Laboratory Medicine in a timely, cost-effective manner, consistent with a leading role in practice development, teaching and research.

Normal hours for routine analysis:
Monday to Friday: 09.00 - 17.00
Saturday: 09.00 - 12.30
Emergency on-call cover is provided outside of these hours.
Specimen Reception:
Patient sample drop-in hours of opening:
Monday to Friday: 09.00 - 17.00
Saturday: 09.00 - 11.30
