ABOUT US

The Department of General & Vascular Surgery provides clinical care, research and teaching in the subspecialities of vascular, colorectal and upper gastrointestinal & hepatopancreatobiliary surgery. Elective surgical care (outpatient, inpatient and day surgery) and emergency surgical care are provided to the local population and to patients from all over Ireland referred for access to specific expertise available in our unit. 

Our surgical department is a leader in the field of minimally invasive surgery in benign, malignant and non cancer surgery. In the last decade, we have become amongst the busiest departments including Laparoscopic Upper (including HPB) and Lower Gastrointestinal surgery, General and Endovascular surgery.

MINOR OPS SURGERY

Minor Ops provides an easy direct access service to patients requiring removal of small lesions/ingrown toenails and other minor surgical procedures under local anaesthetic without the need for coming in for an outpatient review.  GPs can send referrals directly to the Department of Surgery for the attention of “Minor Ops”.

 


 

NEWS AND UPDATES

  • A Virtual Outpatient clinic is currently being piloted within the unit.  Patients are reviewed using the medium of SKYPE which allows the patient to speak to the Doctor or Nurse Specialist in the comfort of their own home. Click here to find out more
