www.rotationlocation.ie is a brand new accommodation website, listing available properties close to all hospitals. It is based upon the calendar rotations of non-consultant hospital doctors (NCHDs). It has been developed by Niall McDermott and his brother Dr Cian McDermott, Specialist Registrar in Emergency Medicine, AMNCH, Dublin. The website is very user-friendly, clearly displaying all properties, their proximity to various hospitals and a calculated route between both.

As a doctor, who is almost finished his training in Emergency Medicine in Ireland and having worked in several Emergency Departments around the country, Dr McDermott has seen various aspects of medicine in this country. One problem he noted, is the clear lack of good quality accommodation, close to hospitals, available for NCHDs as they rotate jobs around the country. Dr McDermott himself has changed hospitals on 4 separate occasions over the last few years and it is always a stressful time. Under the current medical structure, all NCHDs face a job change on a three, four, six or twelve-month basis.

www.rotationlocation.ie is a website database of accommodation aimed both at landlords and NCHDs throughout Ireland. It is free of charge and very easy to use. All accommodation is referenced relative to the hospitals and the calendar of medical rotations. It features a tailored search engine that finds the most suitable porperty to match the NCHDs’ accommodation needs. Therefore, it aims to alleviate the onerous task doctors face in finding short-term accommodation while in full-time employment.
